Susan O'Neill returns to Kenny's Lahinch on 8th October and we can't wait.
Susan is a musician, filmmaker and creative working through her company SonProductions, where she produces live gigs and creates music and film projects.
Susan's work centres around making music and films for real people, in real rooms — exploring the strange and beautiful business of being human. The songs tend to land somewhere between tenderness and a gentle nudge forward: warmth, honesty, humour and a little bit of fire.
Alongside music, Susan directed the feature-length film The Space Between, filmed in Bunratty Castle and aired on TG4. The film brings artists from across Ireland into a shared space, exploring the delicate web of creative life. A new film is currently in development.
For many years Susan have worked with Music Health Ireland, and before that with Waterford Healing Arts Trust, bringing live music into hospitals and nursing homes. Singing in these spaces deepened her understanding of music as something shared — passed hand to hand rather than owned.
On stage Susan builds songs in real time using a loop pedal, guitar, trumpet and voice, layering sounds instinctively and following the energy of the room. Each performance unfolds differently, shaped by presence and a touch of risk, with stories woven between the songs.
Susan's collaboration album with Mick Flannery, In the Game, became Ireland’s biggest-selling independent album of 2021. Her second solo album, Now in a Minute, followed as Ireland’s No.1 independent album.
